Warcross

Updated: Aug 4, 2019

A definite read for fans of Ready Player 1

Title: Warcross Author: Marie Lu Page Number: 368 Date of Publishing: September 12, 2017

I chose Warcross for this book review because it is one of the emerging gems in young adult writing. Marie Lu's book uses the Ready Player 1 story format, taking a dystopian world and using technology to enhance it in strange and wonderful ways.

Warcross is the first of two books, the second is Wildcard and both were written by Marie Lu. In the beginning of this book you meet Emika Chen, a girl with rainbow hair and an electric skateboard. She is a bounty hunter, a hacker and her hero is Hideo Tanaka, the billionaire creater of Warcross. Warcross is the gaming equivalent of Fortnite, a game base that hundreds of millions of players log on to every day. The basis of the game is that a team of around six players faces another team of six in a virtual reality world in which the two teams attempt to take the other team's artifact. So it's kind of like Fortnite, but better.

I rate this five out of five, and recommend that if you like this book, you should read Marie Lu's series of Legend, Prodigy, and Champion.
