A post to tell you about one of the most popular books in 20th - 21st century young adult history.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

Title: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Author: J. K. Rowling Page Number: 336 Date of Publishing: June 26, 1997

I chose Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone for my first book review because that is what most people think of when they hear the phrase, Young Adult Fantasy. Harry Potter is one of the pillars of Young Adult literature and without J. K. Rowling many of todays authors would not have been inspired to write so many wonderful literary pieces.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is the first in the seven book series. In this book you meet a 10 year old named Harry who is living with his cruel aunt and uncle as well as their brutish son Dudley. On his eleventh birthday he receives a letter that tells him (yes, the letter speaks) he is a wizard and invites him to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He accepts and upon his arrival at the school, he soon meets his two best friends, Ron and Hermione. You follow their journey as they learn to make objects fly in Charms, brew a cure for boils in Potions, take care of dangerous plants in Herbology, transform a match into a needle in Transfiguration, and do many other amazing and magical things. Once Harry Potter steps foot in Hogwarts the adventures never cease; from battling a troll to playing a game of giant chess this book takes you on such a journey that you don’t want look away from the pages for a second.

I would rate this book five out of five, but if you get disinterested I would remember that from this book forward, J. K. Rowling's writing keeps getting better and better.
